Nigel Farage Accuses Educators of ‘Poisoning Our Kids’ on Racial Topics
The political figure stated that educators would initiate walkouts shortly after a Reform UK election victory, charging that they are “harming young minds” by telling students that black pupils are victims and Caucasian students are perpetrators.
At a gathering for a Michigan-based religious institution, Farage outlined his viewpoint on the UK education system, stating that the “Marxist left” had “taken over schooling”.
“I expect a walkout by educators very quickly after securing a victory,” Farage commented in response to questions.
“They are corrupting young minds. They are telling them to be ashamed of their country. They inform an eight-year-old black child that he is oppressed and little Oliver, who is white, who is eight that he is a perpetrator. They create division, not uniting us. They are feeding this negative culture.”
Reacting to these assertions, Daniel Kebede rejected the idea that the education system was controlled by Marxists as “absurd”. Kebede noted that any strikes must relate to educators’ working conditions, and doubted whether Reform would attack these immediately upon entering government.
“The politician has crafted his public life on coded rhetoric and now, similar to other figures, he is lining up teachers and their unions for a conflict,” the union leader said.
“I think that’s grossly irresponsible. I don’t – and nor does my union – advocate such divisive theories as he’s suggesting … Should he become prime minister he would sell out our public services, particularly schooling … and the outcome would be catastrophic for education and children.”
Reform, which is leading the polls by about 10 points, has provided limited specifics on its educational plans and seems not to have appointed an education spokesperson.
However, Farage’s remarks suggested the group would reform the educational framework. Farage declared: “We face an enormous task with schooling – truly monumental. And, we can’t do it in six months or a year; it requires years, years to turn this around.”
He stated that younger generations are receptive to analytical thought, but older youth were “completely lost”.
Paying tribute to Charlie Kirk, he commented: “All I want education to do to teach critical thinking – to instruct people that multiple perspectives exist and they should decide for themselves rather than what’s happening now where one is virtuous and one is evil. It’s a massive job in both Britain and America.”
Reform has previously clashed with a major educators’ organization, after Kebede called the party “extremist and prejudiced” and described the leader as “a cheap imitation”.
Farage has accused Kebede of being “an avowed radical” … an individual intent that young minds be corrupted at school, their thinking tainted regarding national issues” and has argued that the union is trying to indoctrinate teenagers against Reform.
Roughly a million individuals are employed in education in the UK, about half of whom are teachers and the others teaching assistants and support staff. The leading teachers’ organization has hundreds of thousands of members.
Countrywide walkouts over teacher pay and conditions in 2023 caused widespread disruption in schools and extensive missed instruction for children.
At the US event, Farage also pledged to help spread the online educational material of the Christian college in the UK. He said organizations like it were “part of the fightback”, noting: “I mean this. I will help attract vast numbers of youth to your online courses. I make that commitment tonight and I’ll do that.”
The institution, a religious educational establishment, provides complimentary classes. Its website states: “Comprehensive learning is necessary for personal happiness and to maintain the benefits of freedom. It offers these beautiful courses for free to all who wish to learn.”
