In excess of 36,000 individuals have fled Sudan's Kordofan territory east of Darfur since Saturday, according to the UN's migration organization.

The important central zone separating the country's Darfur regions and the capital region has in recent weeks become the recent fighting area in the 24-month civil conflict between the Sudanese army and the militia group.

Significant Evacuation Numbers

An estimated 36,825 people evacuated from five localities in North Kordofan province between 26 October and 31 October, according to the International Organization for Migration.

The people, most on foot, headed to Tawila, a town western side of El Fasher that is currently sheltering more than 652,000 displaced people.

Increased Forces Deployment

Citizens of North Kordofan on Monday reported a significant increase in both RSF and army deployment across towns and villages throughout the state.

Both armed factions are vying for control of El Obeid, the North Kordofan state capital and a important strategic and command center that joins Darfur to Khartoum.

"Today, all our forces have converged on the Bara front here," commented an RSF member in a recently shared video statement.

Regional Citizens Detail Safety Fears

A local inhabitant of Um Smeima, located west of El Obeid, stated that the quantity of RSF vehicles had risen considerably since the group's seizure of El Fasher.

"We discontinued traveling to our farms, afraid of clashes," the individual commented.

Another civilian, who asked to remain unnamed for protection purposes, also reported that "there has been a significant rise in army vehicles and weapons west and south of El Obeid" over the last fourteen days.

World Alarms and Appeals

A senior UN official expressed concerns last week about "extensive crimes" and "ethnic-based retaliations" by RSF in Bara.

The representative cautioned about patterns comparable to patterns in Darfur, where RSF militants have been accused of mass killings, sexual violence and abductions against specific ethnic communities.

The religious leader on Sunday called for an immediate ceasefire and the opening of aid passageways in Sudan, stating that attacks on civilians and impediments to humanitarian aid "are causing unacceptable suffering."

Sudan's diplomatic representative to Egypt on Sunday alleged RSF of carrying out war crimes in El Fasher and announced that the Sudanese government would not engage with the armed faction.

The representative further urged the international community to classify the group as a terrorist entity.
